Innovations for cars
What do you like your car to be – powerful and dynamic or economical and environment-friendly? With innovative Bosch technology for gasoline engines, you can have both at the same time. Direct gas injection with turbo-charging ensures driving pleasure and low gas consumption.

What was regarded as a specialty of diesel engines for a long time is now also a feature of gas engines: powerful torque for dynamic acceleration even at low rev ranges. The turbo engine with direct gas injection provides higher performance, while also cutting gas consumption.

Interaction of high-tech components
While direct gas injection already provides up to 280 Newton meters torque from 1800 rpm upwards, the turbo-charger brings top performance in the high rev ranges. Bosch has combined both technologies intelligently, thereby giving gas engines high power and low consumption at the same time.

Turbo-charging
A turbo-charger presses more air into the cylinder than naturally aspirated engines. The exhaust gas flow of the engine drives a turbine, which in turn drives the compressor. The compressor increases the pressure in the intake port of the engine, so that more oxygen is available for combustion. This means that more combustible air-fuel mix can be generated in the cylinder. And that means higher performance and more driving pleasure.

Direct fuel injection
While older turbo-engines had the disadvantage of relatively high fuel consumption, direct injection now ensures more efficient fuel use. In this process, the air-fuel mix is formed directly in the engine cylinder – and that cuts fuel consumption by up to 15%.

Smaller engines with higher performance
Combining two technologies in the engine makes it possible to achieve torque of up to 200 Newtonmeters and a performance of up to 100 kW per liter piston displacement. This way, Bosch technology ensures that smaller engines can deliver higher performance – which is the perfect condition for saving fuel and lowering harmful emissions into the environment.

Bosch Gasoline Systems is the global leader
The Gasoline Systems division at Bosch develops and manufactures advanced technologies like engine and gearbox controls in a global production network. Our highly qualified researchers and developers work in almost 60 locations across the world to perfect advanced technologies like the turbo-engine with direct gas injection. They provide both the mechanical components and the software and electronics for engine control.

Innovations from Bosch will continue to drive the development of state-of-the-art automotive technologies in the future to make motor vehicles even more dynamic, clean and economical, thereby ensuring both driving pleasure and environmental protection.
